In Miami, Florida, USA

April 22, 2003 – El Cajon, CA- Technology User Database, Latin America, TUDLA, is excited about its new "Solutions Based Survey" and looking forward to sharing it with you at the Telecom/IT Americas Conference organized by the Institute of Americas. The event will take place June 5-6 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Miami, Florida. TUDLA, is proud to be a sponsor of this international conference for the third consecutive year, and each year this event has grown in both size and importance. The Institute’s Telecom/IT Program and it’s annual conference continues to position itself as a leader in bringing together private and public stakeholders in a neutral environment that allows for open discussion of critical industry issues. Additionally, the long-term relationships that the Telecom/IT Program has developed over the last nine years have proven invaluable in sustaining an ongoing dialogue among investors, regulators, consumers, and owners at this conference. TUDLA strongly urges you or another company representatives to attend this conference. Program details and the agenda can be found on the Institute of the Americas’ website at www.iamericas.org or by contacting Noelle Jue at 858-453-5560, ext. 121 or by e-mailing Noelle@iamericas.org.

In conjunction with the IOA and many of our larger clients, TUDLA, is updating its efforts for the purpose of being more of a "solutions driven" data gathering research company. By leveraging all that is learned from over 3,000 IT Decision-Maker Panel interviews conducted each month, TUDLA uncovers the existing use of technology and communications in use at each site. But now by probing to determine what future plans the greater than 30,000 businesses from 30 countries in the Latin America and the Caribbean region in our database have, and what problems they are working on to address, TUDLA has become more solution based.

In an effort to not only assist the members of the TUDLA IT Decision-Maker Panel who inform us of their critical needs but also to better direct the marketing endeavor of our clients, TUDLA will be probing into the following:
  • Service and Maintenance--do you do it yourself, use a primary vendor like HP, or have a third-party for support? Is it working? Who is the Third-party? Have you considered or do you have an Outsourcing arrangement? Are you unhappy and looking for a better option?
  • Networking requirements--Are you planning a major renovation or a move of your IT department? How many employees work in your IT department? What is your budget? Are you planning more locations? Any WAN changes planned? Who do you purchase your Network Equipment from? Do you have or plan a Call Center?
  • Applications driving your business--What are your top three applications? What Brand are they? Are you looking for an integrated solution? Do you have or are you planning a firewall/security? Have you implemented or do you plan a VPN?
  • Telecommunications needs--Who provides your voice/data solutions? What phone system do you have and where did you get it from? If on a lease, when does the lease run out? Are you looking to upgrade? Who is your ISP do you plan to change? What are you using for wireless communications?
The objective here is for TUDLA to provide better information on what is driving the technology and communications investments within this evolving Latin American market place. Those who attend the IOA conference or get advisement from the IOA and other market watching organizations, will be able to understand that our purpose is to provide a Micro level view of Latin America to offset the sometimes less then positive Macro-Level view that comes just from following the economic picture for the various countries that make up this region. Our mission remains to assist those with technology and communications needs to have better and more affordable solutions offered to them by vendors who have the right options to offer. In order for the vendors to take notice of the region we have to be a bastion of good news that will counter the negativity that is being offered based on the pure economic picture. Companies in the US and elsewhere have to come to realize that this is a viable and safe market to do business in.

For clients that use TUDLA services, it is a matter of bringing them together with the right and the best opportunities. As Geoffrey Moore so eloquently put it, "Crossing the Chasm, is the challenge that we all have," In Latin America the Chasm can look very deep and broad and not approachable. So our job at TUDLA is to build a bridge between the end-users with needs and the right vendors with the best and most cost-effective solution to those needs. Attending the important conferences such as this one is a very significant step that IT Decision-Maker Panel members, clients and others in the region should definitely consider. TUDLA will be present in June, at the IOA Conference as another testimonial to their commitment to Technology & Communications advancements for Latin America.

TUDLA is the only database management company that specializes in the research of technology and communication usage across Latin America and the Caribbean, and maintains the largest, in- depth survey of business use of technology across the region.
